Week 13: Russia's land Erosion
Throughout this week in class, we learned about erosion and how it affects lands all over the world differently. Land erosion is an issue plaguing many countries throughout the world. In Russia, land erosion is a massive issue that is influenced by a multitude of factors such as climate change, deforestation, and agricultural practices. Of the places affected by this are coastal areas, permafrost regions, and riverbanks are particularly vulnerable. Efforts are needed to combat this which include sustainable land management and reforestation initiatives in place to try and mitigate the process of erosion. Land erosion is one of the vulnerabilities of the country, specifically on the Arctic side of the Russian coastline is prone to erosion due to the rising sea levels that are encountered in thermokarst areas of the country.
